Mariners Quilt Guild

October 22 meeting

Tobacco and Quilts? What’s the connection? Sharon P. knows, and she will show her beautiful collection of cigarette and cigar silks and tell us a little of the history of how women collected and used these to make quilts.

Techniques Galore! Jean E. has been busy exploring and practicing new quilting techniques and patterns which she is going to share with us. She completed her samples in placemats so that we can see how these techniques can be used when we make our Meals on Wheels placemats. A program you don’t want to miss.

New to the Library

There are new additions to the library, including Christmas with Possibilities: 16 Quilted Holiday Projects by Lynda Milligan and Nancy Smith. The book includes an assortment of holiday projects for all skill levels, from advent calendars and casserole-carriers to quilts, placemats and totes. Learn to embellish ready-made items to add a handmade touch to last-minute gifts. Check out a preview of the book.

Show and Share Sept. 24

Last Monday’s Show and Share displayed our members’ talent and ingenuity — from bed quilts to art quilts, from clever totes for irons to a new obsession with vintage sheets. (Click on any image below to start the photo gallery.)
