On January 26, Ken Grantham taught a class on the Transformer Quilt – a pattern of his own design. A variety of pre-cut fabric kits were available although some participants cut their own fabrics. Participating Mariners spent the day quilting at the waterfront campus of NSCC in Dartmouth overlooking Halifax Harbour. The Transformer quilt is so named as the blocks can be transformed into many different patterns. The simple blocks can be cut five different ways for even more options — it will transform into more than 25 different quilts. Everyone enjoyed playing with the many design layouts.
