Mariners Quilt Guild

Challenges and Community

On October 27, we launched the newest lunch box challenge, had some seasonal show and share, had an unveiling of the Mariners’ 2015 raffle quilt, and worked on our placemats for Meals on Wheels.  It was a busy session.

Lunch Box Challenge

25 members brought in lunch boxes of fabric to exchange for the lunchbox challenge.  Jackie numbered all the boxes and only she knows who has been partnered with whom.  You are not going to get that information out of her so don’t event try.  However, you are invited – and encouraged – to send anonymous messages to the person you’ve chosen through Jackie by giving her a note at meetings or sending email to her at  Be sure you don’t include any information that could spill the beans about your identify but feel free to send teasers.    I LOVE the fabric in the box that I chose and have it displayed so I can be inspired by design ideas.  And I have a few ideas about messages that I can send.

Holiday Raffle Draw

Pat gave an update on the growing collection of quilt related items in the basket. Tickets will be available starting Nov. 10 and there is still lots of time to donate to the basket. Watch for an itemized list on this site soon. We’ll update it after each meeting.

Program: Placemat Bee

After the meeting, everyone set up machines or hand-sewing stations to work on placemats and there were a number of designs shared for inspiration. Gillian and Barb L. provided multiple design ideas. Gillian summarized them on this set of suggestions: Placement Ideas_Oct2014
