Do you know someone who has expressed an interest in learning to quilt? Perhaps a friend, neighbour, or interested family member? We are offering two beginner workshops for those interested in trying out the craft of quilting. Each workshop is three hours long and the fee for each workshop is $20.
The log cabin is a basic beginner block, while the pinwheel is a tiny bit more complicated and will cover strip piecing and sewing half-square triangles from squares.
To register or for further information, please contact Jackie at firstname.lastname@example.org
The workshops are being held in conjunction with the Mariners Quilt Show and will be held in the same location: Christ Church Parish Hall in downtown Dartmouth, corner of Dundas and Ochterloney Streets.
The teacher is Linnet Finley, who is a textile artist living in Halifax with her young daughter. Linnet does not remember a time when fabric did not in some way influence her life; from early times spent in her mother’s studio creating one of a kind items on her hand cranked Singer replica sewing machine, to her present role as a quilt artist who enjoys bringing a renewed tradition of hand crafted quality to work for and about children. Linnet teaches Block of the Month, fabric basket, the ‘Zipper Pouch’, Flag Bunting’ and ‘iPad Case’ classes at Patch Halifax.
